Federal prosecutors are seeking an 18-month prison sentence for former Dodgers star Yasiel Puig following his convictions of obstruction of justice and making false statements. They are asking for a sentence that includes three years probation and a $55,000 fine. Prosecutors argue that the sentence reflects the severity of Puig's crimes and his lack of remorse. Puig was accused of participating in an illegal sports gambling ring and lying about his involvement in it during interviews with investigators years later. His attorney, however, expressed hope that Puig would receive a far less stringent sentencing.
