Henry the Rat Terrier, a 25-year-old dog who was rescued from an abusive backyard breeder, has become a worldwide hit. He was adopted in 2010 when he was 9 years old and lives with Lori Hartman and Jim Larson, who started a no-kill shelter in 2007. The couple took in 29 dogs that day, resulting in nearly 60 rescues. Almost all of these dogs were eventually adopted, with many remaining with Lori. Despite his blindness and pulmonary hypertension, Henry also helps raise awareness for senior dogs in shelters waiting for loving homes.
