Some San Francisco businesses are staying open on May Day, despite calls for an economic blackout in support of workers' rights and in protest against the Trump administration. Some businesses, like those of Daniel Macchiarini and Ed Sui, believe their businesses are more important than the political protests. However, many businesses across the Bay are participating in the May Day blackout.
