Nebraska Sen. Kathleen Kauth has filed amendments to two separate bills, one of which would require schools and state agencies to designate bathrooms by sex at birth and one would penalize doctors for using hormone therapy in Nebraska. The amendments, known as "catching a ride" as amendments only need 25 votes for an amendment to be voted on. Kauth's amendment, AM 2751 on LB 878, would require public schools, state agencies, and doctors to provide paid maternity leave for state agencies. The other, AM 2840 on LB 933, would prohibit doctors from prescribing hormone therapy or puberty-blockers for minors for “gender alteration.
