The Lakewood City Schools has passed a new-money operational levy, Issue 2, in a vote that saw a 66.18% increase in votes. The district's superintendent, Maggie Niedzwiecki, thanked the community for their support and assured that the district can continue providing high-quality learning opportunities, maintain essential programs and maintain a safe and supportive environment for all students. While Issue 2 initially appeared as a 6.9-mill ask, it will actually result in a 4.9 millage increase due to a district reduction in debt service payments. The reduced levy millage equates to a $100,000 homeowner paying $14 per month.
