The Karlovy Vary International Film Festival's Industry Days strand, which runs from July 5-July 8, 2026, is expanding with new initiatives, including a new book adaptation program, Book-To-Screen. The initiative aims to present producers with up to 10 book titles from Central and Eastern Europe suitable for film or series adaptation. The long-term goal is to create a market for film rights of adaptations of literary works in the region. The festival's festival platform, KVIFF Eastern Promises, is broadening its international scope and is rebranding as KVIFA Promises. This year will also see the addition of a strand dubbed “From True Crime Ethics to Alternative Distribution”, which will focus on a series of presentations, panel discussions and workshops across the ethics of true crime stories, alternative film distribution and private equity financing of projects. The International Casting Directors Association (ICDA) will present its annual Semiramis Award for Excellence in Casting.
