The UK government is buying spyware developed and tested on Palestinians, despite public criticism of Israel's actions. This comes after the arrest of former UK ambassador to the US, Peter Mandelson, over his links to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Palantir, a US tech giant founded by Peter Thiel and current CEO Alex Karp, has been instrumental in supporting Israel's genocidal war on Gaza and continued occupation of the West Bank. Despite this, the UK government has signed contracts with Palatir, including a defence contract worth 240 million pounds ($323m) and another worth 330 million pounds (444m) involving the UK’s Ministry of Health. The company has partnered extensively with the Israeli military and its operations in Gaza and the occupied West Bank, and has recruited veteran members of Israel’s cyber intelligence wing, Unit 8200. Despite criticism, PalantIR insists its technology is an analytical tool rather than a direct targeting system, its integration into Israeli command-and-control workflows has been criticised by human rights researchers.
