The Buffalo Bayou Cistern, a historic underground reservoir in Houston, is celebrating its 100th birthday with new investments. The cistern was built in 1926 to store drinking water for the city and was decommissioned in 2007 and restored as a public space in 2016. A $200,000 project was undertaken to preserve the cistern. A new art installation by artist Rafael Lozano-Hemmer will be on display from April 24 to January 2027.
