Grammy-nominated music producer Dr. Kevin Khao Cates claims that a wrongful eviction by Fulton County marshals cost him millions in studio equipment, hard drives, films and unreleased music. The founder of Bridge Da Gap, Cates, claims that the incident ended years of investment into the facility and left him with irreparable harm. The dispute began in 2019 when Cates signed a lease-to-own agreement with the original owner of the Buffington Center building and paid over $600,000 toward purchasing the property. However, in 2022, he learned that the original owners had sold the property to PJX, a new ownership company. Cates alleges that he repeatedly attempted to pay rent to the new owner, despite claiming he was the rightful owner. The current owner denies these claims.
