The Department of Justice (DOA) is being sued over its possession of confidential voter data, which includes information on Tennessee, along with at least 11 other states. The data includes names, dates of birth, addresses, and the last four digits of voters’ social security numbers. This comes after the Trump administration required all states to submit their data, leading to the department's pursuit of at least 30 states. However, federal judges have dismissed these lawsuits at least six times. The lawsuit by four individuals, represented by the ACLU, ACLU-District of Columbia, Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington and Harvard Law School’s Democracy and Rule of Law Clinic, alleges that the DOJ is violating the constitution by exploiting U.S. citizens' voter data for political purposes.
