Kennedy Jr. in the FX series Love Story is an attempt to capture the essence of their lives. Daryl had previously criticized the series for making her and Carolyn Bessette, who were married until their deaths in 1999, as rivals in the series. Daryl argued in a New York Times op-ed that the character she was portrayed as "irritating, self-absorbed, whiny and inappropriate" and accused the series of creating viewers to despise her character.
