Director Bao Nguyen has been working to document the return of South Korean pop group BTS, which had to go on hiatus due to mandatory military service. The documentary, BTS: The Return, is set to premiere on Netflix on March 27. The film was shot during the group's few concerts in Los Angeles in 2021. Nguyen compared BTS' journey to the Homeric myth of Odysseus, comparing them to their fans' longing for their return. The director credits the footage to the members' own camcorders for making the film feel like a snapshot of a moment.
