Senator and gubernatorial candidate Amy Klobuchar has unveiled a plan to combat fraud in Minnesota as part of her campaign, promising to establish anti-fraud units, establish a "do not pay" database, block anyone with a proven history of fraud from receiving state grants and contracts, and increase criminal penalties. She also plans to establish a permanent ban on anyone convicted of fraud and strengthen criminal penalties for those convicted of such crimes. However, critics argue that her plan does not go far enough. The Republican gubernatorial candidate, Kendall Qualls, also plans for audits, a governor-led commission to scrutinize fraud, and track spending by government agencies.
