Chicago police officer fatally shot at Swedish Hospital identified as John Bartholomew

The victim of the shooting, identified as 38-year-old Chicago police officer John Bartholomew, was with the department for a decade and was shot alongside another officer, 57, who was in critical condition. The suspect was one of a pair that had attempted to rob an Albany Park dollar store at gunpoint. The man allegedly fired shots at the officers while under medical observation at Endeavor Health Swedish Hospital before fleeing the hospital naked. No charges have yet been announced against the suspect. The second suspect remains at large, although police have recovered his backpack from the robbery scene.
