Minds Matters provides specialized therapy services aimed at fostering independence rather than long-term institutionalization. The organization is funded through the Brain Waiver program, where the state of Kansas pays 40% of the costs and the federal government pays 60%. The cost of institutional care is significantly higher than providing support for a client to live at home. Williams began her career in social work after her parents encouraged her to pursue a different path.
