Danco Laboratories, the makers of the abortion pill mifepristone, has asked the Supreme Court to block a lower court ruling that imposed a nationwide requirement for the medication to be dispensed in person. The drugmaker has also asked for an immediate halt to the lower court's decision. The 5th Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals had previously granted the state of Louisiana's request to reinstate an old requirement for abortion pills to be distributed in person, a victory for anti-abortion activists as it bans the distribution of abortion pills via telehealth or mail. Danco argues that the court went too far by limiting the sale of mifetristone to in person distribution and doing so nationwide at the request of the state.
