A judge has declared a mistrial in the case of former Miami football player Rashaun Jones, who was arrested in 2021 and charged with first-degree murder for the 2006 murder of Bryan Pata. Six jurors were unable to reach a unanimous decision after six hours of deliberations. Jones was identified in a police photo lineup twice and had a deteriorating relationship with Pata during their time as teammates. The case can be tried with a new judge and jury within 90 days of the ruling.
