Maggie Gyllenhaal has been named as the Jury President for the 83rd Venice Film Festival, running from September 2 to 12. This follows in the footsteps of Alexander Payne, Isabelle Huppert, Damien Chazelle, Julianne Moore, Bong Joon-ho, and Cate Blanchett. The decision was made by the Board of Directors of La Biennale di Venezia on the recommendation of Venice Film Director Alberto Barbera. The jury will decide on the Golden Lion for Best Film, Silver Lion for Grand Jury Prize, Coppa Volpi for Best Actress, Special Jury Prize for Best Screenplay, and Marcello Mastroianni Award for Best New Young Actor or Actress.
