The Senate has unanimously approved a proposal that funds the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and other critical agencies in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). However, it leaves out funding for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and the Border Patrol due to Democrats' demands for reforms. The deal came together quickly before lawmakers were set to leave for a two-week recess. The agreement was surprising given Democrats had previously requested unanimous consent on the Senate floor to fund TSA, FEMA, the Coast Guard, and the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Agency (CISA). The House still needs to approve the funding before it can become law. The sudden approval raises questions about whether Speaker Mike Johnson will be able to pass the package before the weekend.
