Published on March 2, 2026.
Israeli airstrikes in Lebanon have killed dozens, including at least 31 people and 149 others, according to the Lebanese Health Ministry. The strikes were reportedly from the southern suburbs of Beirut and southern regions of the country. Lebanese President Joseph Aoun has condemned the Israeli strikes, accusing them of using Lebanon as a platform for "proxy wars". The Israeli military also launched a fresh wave of airstrikes targeting positions of the Iran-aligned Hezbollah militia in southern Lebanon. The targets included weapons depots and other infrastructure belonging to the Shiite group. This is the first time Hezbollah has attacked Israel with rockets since the start of a ceasefire in November 2024.
