Burchett calls for new Senate leadership after DHS vote

Rep. Tim Burchett (R-Tenn.) has called for new leadership in the Senate after the GOP-controlled upper chamber passed a partial funding package for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) in the late hours of Friday. Burchet called the decision a "huge mistake" and suggested that House Speaker Mike Johnson should have been informed about the legislation sooner. Other House Republicans have also criticized the Senate deal, calling it a "joke" and a "thorn in the side" of the Republican party. The Senate rejected the House-passed DHS bill, leaving the two chambers with no obvious path to fund the agency.
