A lawsuit filed by R.J. Cipriani against Paramount Skydance and Paramount, alleges that President Donald Trump promised to guarantee the acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) to Larry Ellison. The lawsuit also alleges that Trump also promised to make sure that Ellison, who is a close friend with the Ellisons, could get Warner Bros., Warner Bros.-owned cable network CNN. Paramount has denied the claims and plans to defend them vigorously. Despite these allegations, the Trump administration has publicly supported the Ellison and has shown support for Paramount in the acquisition process for Warner Bros.; it also suggested that other bidders, like Netflix, could face regulatory hurdles if they chose to pursue an acquisition.
