Chadwick Boseman's widow, Taylor Simone Ledward Bosem, revealed that she and her late husband were initially optimistic about beating colon cancer six years after his death. The diagnosis came unexpectedly and was diagnosed in 2016. Ledward stated that Bosemand was not at the point where he would consider having a colonoscopy due to his age. Despite briefly remission in 2018, his cancer returned the next year and he proposed to marry shortly thereafter. Boseam died in 2020 at the age of 43.
