President Trump’s Appearance At The WHCD Isn’t A Threat To Journalism — Journalists Are

Brian Karem, a longtime White House correspondent and author of "Free the Press," has stated that he will not attend the White House Correspondents' Dinner (WHCD) due to President Donald Trump's attendance. Karem accuses Trump of discrediting, insulting, and intimidating reporters, and stacking the briefing room with "right-wing propagandists posing as independent reporters". However, he argues that the press has never been more free and that this is due to competition. The internet has enabled citizen journalists to publish stories that challenge the narrative, and that competition is driving revenue. Despite this, a recent poll showed only 28% of Americans have a "great deal of trust in mass media," the lowest on record.
