Pentagon tells Congress no sign that Iran was going to attack US first, sources say

The Trump administration has told Congress that there was no intelligence suggesting Iran planned to attack U.S. forces first, according to two sources. This contradicts a previous statement by senior administration officials that President Donald Trump decided to launch the attacks in part due to indications of Iran's intentions. The Pentagon briefed congressional staff for over 90 minutes about the impending Iranian attack on the United States. Despite this, the White House has urged Iranians to rise up and topple the government. The attacks have resulted in three deaths and five serious injuries, with several other troops wounded.
