Spend in the Black is a local and nationwide initiative to revitalize Black-owned businesses and bring the community together. The initiative was started last year after the rollback of DEI funding. It aims to encourage people to spend their money with Black businesses and stimulate the community. This year's event will feature over 100 businesses along 75th Street and is expected to exceed expectations. The event is being held by Reverend Dr. Charlie Dates, pastor of Progressive Baptist Church & Salem Baptist Church, and Alderman William Hall and the 6th Ward.
