Woman arrested after 3-year-old dies from accidental overdose, police say

A 25-year-old woman has been arrested in connection with a child overdose death in Birmingham, Alabama. The child's death was caused by N-propionitrile chlorphine, a potent illicit opioid analog, which was first detected in the country in 2000. The woman was charged with chemical endangerment and is currently being held in the Jefferson County Jail.
