The Lyrid meteor shower, which typically produces meteors that lack persistent trains, will peak on April 22 and may also produce bright fireballs. This year's viewing will be easier due to a waning crescent moon, which sets in the early morning hours of the shower's peak. While spring usually brings more clear skies, this isn't typically the busiest season for meteor showers. The second medium-strength event, the Eta Aquariid Meteor Shower, will also peak in early May.
