Iranian Football Federation (FFIRI) president, Mehdi Taj, has demanded assurances from FIFA that his country's military will not be insulted in the United States during the 2026 World Cup. This comes after Taj was denied entry to Canada due to his previous service in the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), a terrorist organization considered a terrorist in both the U.S. and Canada. FIFA president Gianni Infantino has made clear that Iran is expected to participate in the competition, but Taj believes another incident could jeopardize Iran's participation.
