Former UK Conservative justice minister, Crispin Blunt, has been fined £1,200 (about $1,600) by a U.K. court after admitting to possessing crystal meth, cannabis, and sedative drugs. This comes after revelations that Blunt hosted 'Chemsex' parties, where participants use drugs to enhance sexual activity. He also received a £480 (approx. $640) victim surcharge and £200 in costs. Blunt represented himself in court and criticized the legal system for its simplistic stance that drugs are bad and illegal, suggesting that his advocacy on drug policy reform, trans rights, and support for Palestinians may have influenced the charges. The court allowed Blunt to pay fines and surcharges without custodial sentences.
