Columbus, known as "Test City, USA," has a reputation as a top test market for food, particularly for food. Major brands such as Wendy's and White Castle have tested food close to their local headquarters. The city's diverse population includes young professionals, college students, families, lawmakers, and immigrants from around the world. The reputation dates back decades. Despite a perceived identity crisis, this identity has kept Columbus in the national conversation. It also provides a valuable snapshot of America in one region, which helps to identify if a concept could work nationwide. However, the city's below-average size of its Latino population could pose a disadvantage in future.
