The Detroit Pistons won Game 5 of the NBA playoffs against the Orlando Magic, with contributions from Cade Cunningham's playoff franchise record in scoring and Ausar Thompson's 15 rebounds. The Pistons were able to overcome an all-time offensive performance from Orlando forward Paolo Banchero and a poor 3-point performance from the Magic. The victory was also attributed to the Pistons' strong performance from their own free-throw line, shooting 80% from the line and adding 28 points to their scoreline. Despite missing several free throws in the first four games, Cunningham remained focused and executed his style of play. Despite a series-high 26 team fouls from Orlando, the Pistons managed to win the game by just seven points.
