Major automakers have unveiled new electric vehicles at the New York Auto Show, despite a sharp downturn in sales following the elimination of a $7,500 EV tax credit. Kia will begin selling its lower-priced EV3 in the US later this year, while Subaru will offer a new three-row EV named the "Getaway". The Alliance for Automotive Innovation, a trade group representing major automakers, reported that EV sales were 9.6% of all US sales in 2025 but fell to 6.5% in the last three months, the lowest since early 2022. However, higher gasoline prices have increased interest in the EV market. KIA believes the US EV market could return to its former peak in three or four years.
