Cubs starter Jameson Taillon managed six innings against the Red Sox, despite giving up three home runs. The most damaging home run was the second-inning grand slam from Brandon Lowe. Taillon attributed the issue to the wind, not the pitch itself, but to the difficulty of putting runners on base and falling behind hitters. He emphasized the importance of attacking the zone in these challenging conditions. The team also faced another challenge after reliever Hunter Harvey was placed on the 15-day IL with right triceps inflammation. To replace Harvey, the Cubs selected lefthander Charlie Barnes from Triple-A Iowa.
