A New York State Supreme Court jury has found Camby Wilson guilty of second-degree murder and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon. Prosecutors allege that Wilson shot and killed Shaquell Gainey at a liquor store in 2022 near East 116th Street and First Avenue in East Harlem. Gainey was leaving the store when Wilson, who was wearing a hood and face mask, pulled out a gun and fired several shots at him before chasing him inside the store and continuing to shoot. After the shooting, Wilson fled New York and was arrested on a federal gun charge and later sentenced to a 24-month prison term in May 2023.
