The City of Miami Beach is reinstating its LGBTQ+ crosswalk in Lummus Park after the Florida Department of Transportation removed it last year. The move was part of a statewide crackdown on street art and led to the reconstruction of 3,606 colorful pavers. Commissioner Tanya K. Bhatt, who led the effort to reconstruct the installation, called the state's removal a "slap in the face" to residents and visitors. The reinstallation coincides with the city's 18th annual Miami Beach Pride celebration.
