The Foxhome grain elevator in western Minnesota, which has been unused for over 15 years, is being dismantled due to safety concerns. The project, overseen by CHS Inc., began in early January and is expected to take several months before completion. The elevator has not been in operation for many years and has fallen into disrepair due to exposure to the elements, raising concerns about potential collapse or other safety risks. The removal follows ownership changes over the years, including the acquisition of West Central Ag Services by ChS, which is working to clean up older, unused facilities. Despite the practical reasons for its removal, Gary Knutson, who co-owned and operated the elevator with his father for decades, said it represented a significant landmark in the community.
