In a new ad from Maine Gov. Janet Mills, Janet Mills has targeted the female voters in the upcoming Senate primary by raising Graham Platner’s online past. The ad includes comments from Platner, who has been endorsed by Sens. Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren, downplaying incidents of sexual assault in the military in a previous post. The comments were made after reports of these posts surfaced last fall. After the ad was released, Platner's campaign launched its own TV ad responding to Mills' attack. Mills and her allies are betting that a gender gap in the race could narrow Platner' wide lead ahead of the June 9 primary to determine who will face Republican Sen. Susan Collins. At 77 years old, Mills would become the oldest-term senator in history if she wins.
