UConn and Notre Dame women meet for 1st time with spot in Final Four on line: ‘We understand how big it is’

UConn and Notre Dame are set to meet for the first time in the NCAA Tournament, this will be their first time they will be playing for a spot in the Final Four. The teams had previously met in the first eight times in the tournament. This will be Notre Dame's first Elite Eight since 2019, with sixth-seeded Notre Dame facing the defending national champion and top overall seed UConn, who have a 53-game winning streak. The winner of Sunday's final in Fort Worth Regional 1 will fill the first slot for the final four. This marks the 57th all-time meeting between the two teams, with UConn winning 85-47 at home on Jan. 19. The rivalry started before the tournament, with second-team AP All-America guard Hannah Hidalgo contributing to an NCAA single-season record of 26.1 points per game.
