Rays starter Nick Martinez helped the team avoid a sweep against the Reds in a 6-1 victory over their series finale at Tropicana Field. Martinez, who had previously played for Cincinnati the past two years, held his former team to five hits and one walk while striking out six times. This victory was a relief for Tampa Bay's overworked bullpen, as no Rays starter had previously worked into the seventh inning in their first 23 games of the season.
