The 287G federal immigration program, a federal initiative where local law enforcement connects with federal immigration authorities, operates at the Clark County Detention Center in Las Vegas. At the jail, officers notify Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) when someone who is foreign-born is booked and then informed them about the arrest. The tour included the entire intake process from arrest to release, which was shown to reporters. Only specially trained officers inside the jail can serve inmates with papers from ICE, and no officers on the street can serve ICE warrants.
