Mike Lovelace, a project manager for a Detroit Lakes construction company, has built a barn-inspired main house and several outbuildings on a 20-acre property near Verndale, Minn., on Wing River. Much of the property was built using salvaged supplies, including barn wood, steel siding and windmill blades. The property also includes a movie theater, bank, cantina, garden house, schoolhouse, and more. The main house was built in August 2016 and is listed at $1.399 million. Despite starting construction a decade ago, Lovelate had no master plan but jigsaw-puzzled together as he built the home.
