After Hungary's election, for the first time in 16 years, Hungary will have a new prime minister, Peter Magyar, who is leading the Tisza party, has been elected. This change represents a welcome opportunity for change for Americans across the political spectrum, including conservatives, as Hungary has been criticized for undermining U.S. interests by cozying up to the Kremlin, with China, and stifling critical European assistance to Ukraine. Magryar, a former Fidesz official, has pledged to stamp out corruption, restore the rule of law, fight against rising cost of living and repairing public services. He also pledged to prioritize Hungarian "sovereignty" in foreign policy. However, this aligns with what would appear to align with what the incoming government would align with the Trump administration on defense and border security issues.
