ABB E-mobility has launched a new EV fast-charger system, OM M-Series, that distributes power across multiple dispensers rather than locking fixed power to each charger. The system can support up to 24 charge points and expand in 400 kW increments using three interconnected power cabinets. This shift away from peak power to deliver energy to vehicles over time, ABB is focusing on how much energy actually gets delivered to them over time. The modular system is designed for a wide range of sites, including public fast-charging hubs, retail and destination locations, and commercial fleet depots. It can be added capacity as demand grows, reducing overbuilding upfront. The M-series also supports optional battery storage for peak shaving and grid-constrained locations.
