Las Vegas cannabis rules may cost tourism

Researchers have found that the separation between Nevada's gaming and cannabis industries could be negatively affecting tourism, particularly as visitor preferences shift towards experience-driven travel. While recreational marijuana is legal in the state, its use is restricted to private spaces and licensed lounges, and not allowed inside casino-resorts. This disparity may be problematic for Las Vegas, which is known for offering everything in one place. However, research found that about 70% of respondents support cannabis use in casino settings, and around 40% would be more likely to gamble at a property where cannabis is allowed. Despite this, casinos have largely avoided cannabis, citing federal law as the main reason.
