Hayley Kiyoko, a 34-year-old Panorama singer, has spoken about the evolution of representation in books, stating that she was already told the narrative of who she was supposed to be, even though she didn't fit it. She also revealed that her books, which cover themselves, have been left intentionally blank for fans who may not be able to read them in a safe place. Kiyko, who has written two New York Times bestselling novels with queer representation, has also been adapted into a film starring Maya da Costa and Myra Molloy. Her latest novel, Where There’s Room for Us, is a historical romance inspired by her desire to see Asians represented in period pieces.
