A class action lawsuit has been filed by a victim of Jeffrey Epstein, claiming that Google's AI Mode feature exposed personal information on Epstein's victims. The Department of Justice had begun releasing over 3 million pages of evidence in its case against Epstein in response to legislative action, but the roll-out was problematic, with some predators' names being redacted and several survivors' identities being outed in improper redactions. The lawsuit alleges that even after the government acknowledged the disclosure, Google continued publishing the information, despite pleas from the public. The suit also alleges that Google’s AI function, AI Mode, displayed their full name, contact information, cities of residence, and association with Epstein. The ruling could potentially impact the regulation of online free speech in the US.
