The sale of Glenview Park District's "celebrity" horses, Bill and Bob, has sparked controversy after it was put up for public auction, raising concerns that the district may have sold the horses for horse meat. The horses have been part of Historic Wagner Farm, managed by the Park District, for nearly a decade and supported the farm's educational programming through tractor rides and demonstrations. Since their public-facing duties were due to their age and inability to handle physical demands, they retired and were succeeded by two new horses. Victor Garcia, a member of the board of directors at Glory Bound Rescue Ranch in Marengo, informed the horse rescue organization that the horses were being auctioned for $3,000. The original Facebook post announcing the sale has since been taken down following public outrage.
