The New Jersey 12th Congressional District primary election will be held in 2026. Candidates include Matt Adams, a federal government contracts attorney, a lieutenant colonel in the Army Reserve, and a former Middlesex Borough councilman and fire commissioner. Adams's campaign aims to restore trust in government with robust conflict-of-interest rules across all branches and reduce the budget of the U.S. Immigration and Customs and Enforcement (ICE) agency, reduce the defense budget and allocate more funds towards social services. Sue Altman, who previously served as the state director for Sen. Andy Kim and was defeated in 2024 in the 7th District, is campaigning on affordability, abolishing ICE, improving the Department of Homeland Security and increasing youth participation in politics. Brad Cohen, the mayor of East Brunswick since 2017, has served on the East Brunswick Board of Education for six years and aims to stop President Donald Trump's allies from gutting health care, rolling back protections for people with pre-existing conditions and protecting health care. Adam Hamawy is a surgeon, small business owner, and veteran who served as a combat trauma surgeon and is running for the 12th District. Kyle Little, a chain of fitness studios in Middlesex County, supports term limits in Congress and stands for public service. His campaign priorities include Medicare for everyone, empowering Medicare to negotiate prescription drug pricing, reviving the education system, and standing up for human rights, and defending the environment.
