Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan has revealed that he initially planned for the cast of Pluribus to be naked, but this changed when he realised they were not working for HBO. The show, which was a critical and commercial hit for Apple TV last year, depicts a world where all of humanity, except the protagonist Carol Sturka (Rhea Seehorn), is absorbed into a hive mind due to an alien virus. Gilligan explained that the actors wear clothes for protection against the sun and cold, and that the clothing worn by the hive mind gradually changes over time. Despite this, the show's costume designer, Jennifer Bryan, expressed relief at the decision not to depict naked people in the show.
